The Dark Isle Book

We have been reading a book called The Dark Isle, it has been a really good book to read and I would really recommend it for primary 5 and up.  We finished it earlier this week it was really fun.  What happens is: A girl called Morag had been getting abandoned from her foster mum and dad.  Morag went on a journey with a Talking dodo named Bertie, a talking rat named Aldiss and a talking dragon named Shona.  They went to an island called Murst and Morag (the ten year old) killed the 2nd most powerful wizard in the world.  When they went home Montgomter said that Morag had to go back to Marnoc Mor with them because she might go and tell humans about them.

Drama

Last week we were set a dramatic challenge!  We were asked to script our own mini-plays based around an aspect of peer pressure and to demonstrate the negative effects/potential consequences of this.  We worked extremely hard and all performed with confidence in front of the other members of the class.  Some of us even made props!  Here are a selection of photos from the afternoon.

Italy

Bonjourno! We are enjoyoying our topic of Italy and have been learning lots about some of their famous cities. One of the cities we have looked closely at is Venice as this is the setting for our current book, ‘The Theif Lord.’  We created tourist information leaflets on Venice so if you ever want to visit, just as us what you should do there!

We also learned how to use cross hatching in our line drawings to create shadows. Have a look at some of these famous landmarks. Can you name any?…..

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Review

I have started reading a book called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It is a really good book I am really far into it I have just got to the bit when Harry and Ron fly Ron’s dads car to Hogwarts because they missed the train. The two boys missed the train  because of the Muggles were staring at them when Ron’s mum, dad, little sister and his two brothers went through the wall which they used magic to get through it.Harry and Ron used their dads flying car to get to Hogwarts they just made it in time before the train got to Hogwarts. I think in the next chapter Harry and Ron might get into trouble for flying Ron’s dads car because he could of damaged it or he could have got caught by some of the muggles.
