Romans Trip

We went to Motherwell Heritage Centre to learn more about our Romans topic. Our guide, Hugh taught us a lot about the Romans in Britain and the many things they introduced which are still in use today. We also learned about how they bathed, ate and lived.

Did you know?….there are remains of Roman baths at Strathclyde Park and that Hadrians wall was built by the Romans!?

In the afternoon we got to try on Roman soldier armour and hold a sword which was so heavy that some of us thought we were going to collapse!

We all had a great day and learned a lot! Take a look at some of our photos below.

Italy

Bonjourno! We are enjoyoying our topic of Italy and have been learning lots about some of their famous cities. One of the cities we have looked closely at is Venice as this is the setting for our current book, ‘The Theif Lord.’  We created tourist information leaflets on Venice so if you ever want to visit, just as us what you should do there!

We also learned how to use cross hatching in our line drawings to create shadows. Have a look at some of these famous landmarks. Can you name any?…..

Japanese Day

On Thursday 15 December, we had a Japanese Day in class. Alicia is really interested in Japanese culture so she and Miss Slimmon planned a Japanese Day together for the rest of the class.

First, everyone researched Japanese food, culture, fashion, geography etc and made an information booklet. Next, Holly and Alicia taught the class how to count to 10 in Japanese and we played a game in the hall. Then we learned how to use chopsticks and tasted sushi after a presentation. In the afternoon, Alicia did a Manga art lesson and everyone got to draw their own characters. It was a great day. Here is a gallery of pictures –
