Room 7

Room 7 have been learning about their local community.  We found out that Bertram de Shotts was a ‘giant’ who robbed the people of Salsburgh and surrounding areas and was killed at Kate’s well by Willielmo De Muirhead.  His head was taken to King James IV and Muirhead was rewarded for his bravery.  We are going to visit Kate’s well to see where this took place. Teddy Bears Picnic

On Wednesday, Primary 1 and 2 held a Teddy Bears Picnic to raise money for St Andrews Hospice. They invited their parents along and everyone had a lovely afternoon.

Well done boys on winning your awards with the Boys Brigade. Kirk  O’Shotts are proud of you all!

Infant Quiz

The Enterprise team successfully organised a quiz afternoon for our infants to raise money for our school funds. The infants had to work together in teams to answer maths, literacy and general knowledge questions. Greg was the quiz master and did a fantastic job. All the children had a great time and congratulations to the winning team – The 5 Amigos!  

Romans Trip

We went to Motherwell Heritage Centre to learn more about our Romans topic. Our guide, Hugh taught us a lot about the Romans in Britain and the many things they introduced which are still in use today. We also learned about how they bathed, ate and lived. Did you know?….there are remains of Roman baths at Strathclyde Park and that Hadrians wall was built by the Romans!? In the afternoon

Buried Treasure – Science

We investigated how to make coins shiny using things you would find around the house. We used brown sauce, vinegar, Cif, Coke and Flash. Which do you think worked best……? Here are some pictures of us cleaning them. Maybe we can transfer our cleaning skills to the house now!

Italian Food!

This week we made bruschetta using tomatoes, basil, red onion, garlic, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and bread. We didn’t think we would like it but it was amazing! We wanted seconds. We can show you how to make this if you would like to try it.
