Rights = Respect = Responsible Citizens

Knowetop Primary is a Silver Rights Respecting School. This means our school is embedding the principles of the UNCRC in its policy, practice and culture and our children see themselves as right’s respecting citizens.

We are working toward our Gold award and hope to achieve it very soon.

Our classes all have charters that help us to respect each other’s rights. Teachers and pupils work together to create these at the start of term and link them closely to the UNCRC. We also have charters for other areas in our school such as the gym hall, playground, and school dinner hall. We want to make sure that rights are respected in all areas of our school.

Every class has a suggestion box that children can use to put forward ideas, suggestions, and requests about anything school related.

Our Pupil Council, Anti Bullying Group, Eco Committee and Digital Leaders are just a few of our pupil groups who meet regularly to make sure children’s voices and opinions are heard and listened to in our school.

Our Rights Respecting Steering group (The Rights Respecters), Mrs McAlister and Miss Torley meet every Thursday after school. The Rights Respecters lead our school in our rights respecting journey and try to help us make positive change both locally and globally.
