In the lower school, pupils follow a broad general education in line with the principles of Curriculum for Excellence.
In S2 pupils will further develop their skills during the 2 periods per week in the department. This will be split into 1 period of Business Education and 1 period of Computing Science.
S2 Business Education Course
Topics studied:
- Word Processing/DTP
- Spreadsheets
- Databases
- Accounting (Income Statement and Statement of Financial Position)
- Band on Tour Project, all the the tasks required to put a band on tour (eg research, booking venues, designing tickets, database, spreadsheet, charting)
S2 Computing Science Course
Topics studied:
- Computer Architecture ( types of computers, input/output/backing storage devices)
- Data Representation (Basic Binary)
- Software Development using Scratch Software
- Web Development using Dreamweaver.
As part of S3 Personalisation and Choice pupils will have the option to opt to study Administration and IT, Business Management and/or Computing Science. By choosing one of these subject pupils will continue to build on the skills they have already developed throughout S1 & S2.
