In the lower school, pupils follow a broad general education in line with the principles of Curriculum for Excellence.
S1 Business & ICT Course
This one period per week course allows pupils to develop ICT, numeracy, communication and problem solving skills. Pupils study a range of topics:
- file handling
- cyber resilience
- internet safety
- cash budgeting
- word processing
- building digital solutions
- Disneyland Project allows pupils to work in small teams on various activities
Microsoft Office software is used throughout the course:
- PowerPoint
- Word
- Excel
- Access
- Publisher

- Kodu
- Serif
S1 Enrichment Course
S1 pupils have the oppertunity to chose an Enrichment course to take part in 1 period a week. Pupils who choose to take part in the S1 Business Enrichment class take part in a number of different hands on activities all linked to Business and Enterprise.
Topics studied are:
- Business start up decisions (location, name, finance, business plan)
- Staff recruitment
- Advertising
- Market research
- Product development
