Summer Service 24 June 2015
To help celebrate a very successful year pupils, staff, parents and members of the community came together to recognise our achievements and say goodbye and good luck to P7 and Mrs McLeod. We were entertained by both our junior and senior choirs. “Midnight Sketch” who are a band from Chryston High performed two songs.
Pupils with perfect attendance were recognised with a certificate. Our school Chaplain, Mark McKeown spoke warmly to our P7’s about moving on and new beginnings.
Mrs Karen Wallace and Mrs Jackie Holmes from our Parent Council presented every P7 with a tie for high school, an autograph book, pen and a photograph from their P7 party. Thank you to the Parent Council for their continued hard work and dedication to raising money and supporting our school.
Mrs McLeod was presented with flowers from the Parent Council, a special book containing a good luck message from every child in the school and flowers from staff.
Thank you to all parents and members of our community for your continued support. We hope you have a great summer.
P5 Garden Event
We had an amazing turnout from parents for our open event last week. The children and their parents/grandparents enjoyed painting their plant pots together. They then had to choose from a selection of herbs and vegetables to plant. They could chose from coriander, dill, oregano and many more. The vegetables available to plant ranged from red chillies to sweet peppers and shallots. The class were so involved in what they were doing and the children really enjoyed having a member of their family there to help and support them. The children will now take their plant pots home and look after them over the summer holidays. Thank you so much to everyone who came along and we hope you enjoyed it!
P2/3 Action for Eco
P2/3 carried out a litter pick after playtime on Friday 19 June for Glenmanor’s Eco Day of Action. They worked in trios using gloves and a litter picker to collect the litter. The Janitor thought there wasn’t much litter to be found but P2/3 searched high and low and found a whole carrier bag full! Well done boys and girls! Here are some photographs.
P4/5 Art
The boys and girls recreated a painting of Venice at sunset by Claude Monet. Each pupil focused on one section of the picture and drew it using oil pastels. The class then brought all of their drawings together to create one large picture.
P1b Pupil of the Week
P1a Star Writers
On Friday morning the nursery allowed P1a to look after their tadpoles and little froglets. The class looked at some books about tadpoles and frogs and then wrote an explanation about the life cycle of a frog! Well done to our star writers, David, Dylan, Daisy and Peter!
