P6/7 create 1960’s inspired moodboards

As part of our topic on the ‘swinging sixties’ P6/7 have been learning all about the fashion trends of the decade.  In groups we have started to create moodboards on fashion trends which symbolised the sixties.  We have been using different textures, colours and images to capture themes such as psychedelic flower power, futuristic space age, mods and rockers.  Once complete, we will create our own 60’s inspired outfits with the help of our boards.

Whole School Assembly 4 September 2015

Representatives from eco council, healthy heroes, pupil council and fairtrade committees updated us on their progress from last week’s meeting. Each group has come up with great ideas and plans to make Glenmanor a great place to be. I look forward to seeing you transform the school!

Thank you to our volunteers who led with the actions from our 3 fishy songs ‘Hello’, “We’re on this road’ and ‘My Body Everybody’. You did a great job of leading everyone today.

Our successful entrants to the Chryston Horticultural show received certificates and and small financial prizes. A special mention goes to P1a for winning first place in the krispie cake competition. They received a lovely medal too!

P5 Fashion in the 70s!

Primary 5 have been using their iPads in class this week to research what men and women’s fashion was like in the 70’s. They enjoyed talking about platform shoes and could not believe men and woman both wore them! The children also tried on some outfits which were similar to ones we looked at in class.

We used our iPads to take pictures in some 70’s clothes and then designed our own outfits using bright colours and different patterns.

Primary Six Homework Topic 1970s

Primary Six and The 1970s

!BAY-CITY-ROLLERS-1975-16-600x378

This term P6 pupils will be reaserching a variety of information relating to the 1970s.  We will be using a variety of sources to find out about things such as fashion, music, sporting achievements, playground games, technology, decimlisation, local and world news events.

As a homework task, pupils have been asked to create a display of knowledge poster.   Children can either focus on one area or include a variety of their own choosing.  The layout is optional but should include relevant headings, graphics, photographs and some written detail.  Can I ask that posters be handed in by 23rd September please.

In class we have been learning to sing and dance to ‘Show me the way to Amarillo’ as well as learning about who The Bay City Rollers  were and learning  ‘Shang-a-lang’.   Not sure who is having the most fun!

Primary 4 – The 1990’s

The children have been enjoying finding out what life was like in the 1990’s.  The have been researching significant  people and important events of that decade.  They had great fun finding out about clothes and fashion of the 90’s and designed their own outfits.
