P5 have enjoyed their first few visits to the Time Capsule! Here are some of us practising our athletics in the dry side!
All posts by Mrs Fisher
P4/5 have been busy building bridges!
We have been learning about the Battle of Stirling Bridge this week and how the bridge was significant in the outcome. William Wallace’s army beat the English with the help of the weak structure of Stirling Bridge.
Mrs Fisher challenged us to build a bridge that wasn’t weak! It had to hold a certain weight and we worked together in teams to create and design different bridges thinking about what structures would be best!
Have a look at the results.
Terrific Tunnocks Turnout
A huge thank you to all of the parents who came to P4/5 today and helped us with our Gillian Kyle inspired tunnocks artwork. The children loved having you all there and the finished pieces are fantastic! Photos of the children’s artwork have been sent to tunnocks to see!
Pupil Council and Enterprise Committee
Today during our Leadership Academy the Pupil Council and Enterprise Committee planned events to raise money for Comic Relief. Details will be given to all pupils next Friday at Assembly.
Poetry fun in P4/5
Today we wrote poems using repetition about ourselves. Mrs.Fisher then drew round us to create silhouettes to display our poems on. Can you work out who these poems belong to?
Guess who?
P4/5 were learning about some more significant Scots today, we did some iPad research on Scottish politicians and the Scottish referendum. Can you guess which politicians these are from our line drawings?!
Times Tables consolidation
P4/5 have been working hard to learn their times tables. Today we played some games to test our knowledge!
Scotland’s Next Top Inventor
Here are our fantastic inventors from P4/5. We had some innovative designs but the winning inventions were inside out football boots and a cross trainer that powers the TV! Well done to you all! When you are rich and famous just remember who your teacher was! 😃
P4/5 Poets
We have been looking at poetry this week in literacy. We have learned about the different features of poetry and tried to use some of them when writing our own poems.
We used repetition when writing about what was in the ‘Magic Purse’ and we used metaphors and similes to create poems about emotions.
Next week we will look at onomatopoeia and alliteration!
Scotland’s Next Top Inventor
Did you know that many everyday items were invented by famous Scots? P4/5 have been learning all about these famous inventors and their inventions this week. As part of their homework the children have to come up with their own invention, I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
