Today Primary 2 were in the Sensory Garden carrying out some of their garden chores. While we were weeding and tidying, we came across some fantastic mini beasts! Have a look at what we found. Can you name any of them?
Primary 2 have been discussing “The Learning Dip.” This is a point in your learning when you get stuck and think something is too hard. However, the boys and girls of P2 have learned about strategies to get back out of the Learning Dip.
Ben L – “To get out of the dip, you have to try and try again.”
Freya – “To get better, you need to reflect on your work to see how to improve it.”
Below is a link to the Class Dojo discussion videos so you can discuss them more at home!
Primary 2 have been working hard to learn how to use grid references and co-ordinates! We played co-ordinate board games, ipads games and completed co-ordinate write and wipe challenge cards.
Primary 2 worked hard today to learn some times table facts and recall them quickly. Some children played a timed SmartBoard game while others tried a times table board game. Some boys and girls even tried to complete a colour by number multiplication picture of a cowgirl! We also used playdough to help us create”groups of” items and this helped us visualise how to multiply.
Primary 2 and 2/3 have started learning skills to use during athletics activities. We have tried hurdles, long jump, shotput, relay races and sprinting. We are looking forward to improving our skills!
Today in Primary 2 we started work on Multiplication. We started by talking about what we already knew; how to skip count in 2’s. Then we sorted counters into 2 groups and created 2 times table sums! We are keen to try other active tasks for the 2 times table tomorrow!
Some children in Primary 2 have been asking for a copy of the Fairtrade Muffin recipe that we used on Wednesday. Here it is if any keen parents want to have a go! Remember to make sure you use Fairtrade ingredients where possible!
Primary 2 had a fantastic afternoon in the Learning Kitchen today. We have been learning about Fairtrade products and eating a healthy breakfast. We created banana and chocolate breakfast muffins and made sure that the ingredients we used were fairtrade!
“Fairtrade means the farmers got a fair price for their food.” – Hollie McLean
The boys and girls in Primary 2 have been revising their knowledge of ‘o’clock’ and ‘half past.’ They used the SmartBoard to set the time of a big clock and used smaller clocks to test a friend on telling the time. Some children even tried a Time Bingo game!
