As the saying goes “Time flies when you are having fun!”

Our first reading club was such a pleasure to hold – the children were so engaged and their love of reading was great to listen to!  Each pupil discussed their favourite book, telling us why they enjoyed it, the characters and a brief story outline.  I was really impressed with their passion for reading, and it was delightful to hear them all read so confidently a passage from their chosen book with great expression!

We enjoyed some quiet reading time – swapping books with each other and discussing how and why we choose certain books to read.  We all agreed that reading the “book blurb” is not always the best idea as it often gives the plot away and that just sitting down and reading the first few pages gives you an idea if the book is interesting and captures your attention.

Over some juice and biscuits the children also had a chance to listen to me reading my favourite book which I have read countless times by myself and with my son Cameron – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling.

I can’t wait for our “spooky” reading session next week!!

Here we are working on our phonemes it’s great fun!

In numeracy we have been creating a number line using positive and negative numbers.

This is us using watercolour for our CRAZY HAIR line drawings.

 

 

We worked with Mrs Arbuckle to make Charles Rennie Macintosh inspired tiles using clay. We decided on our own designs and colour schemes.

 

Primary 5/6 had loads of fun trying different types of Scottish food and drinks and rating them out of 5. The haggis was more popular than first expected but the tunnocks teacakes were definitely a firm favourite!

 

Primary 5/6 were investigating the nets of 3D shapes today. We used polydron to help us test which nets matched which shape!

Today was dress rehearsal day … and our children,  as always did us proud!  They remembered all their lines, sang their hearts out with lots of actions and smiled all the way through both the P4-7 Christmas Show and the P1-3 Nativity!

Fantastic performance boys and girls … I know that all your mums, dads, grandparents and carers are just going to love the show tomorrow!

We were working in groups to create our own Jurassic World theme park. We were given budgets and we had to use our money wisely to buy dinosaurs (some of which had special offers), rides and to employ staff. We found that we had to confer with other groups to make sure we had enough trainers to look after the dinosaurs and there were attractions suitable for them. We had so much fun and didn’t even realise we were doing maths!

We have began rehearsing for our Christmas Show this year, and are working hard to learn our scripts and song words. We are looking forward to our performances on the 15th of December!
