Glenboig Primary School

The House System

There are four houses:

Garnqueen

Inchneuk

Marnoch

Ramoan

Everyone belongs to one of the houses and has a coloured badge that shows which house they are in. Each house has a captain and a vice-captain.

The main aims of the House System are to encourage good behaviour and a positive work ethic amongst all children.

How It Works:

  • Pupils are given a house badge which they are expected to wear at all times – we do random ‘badge checks’ at assemblies and houses earn a point for each badge worn
  • There is a house notice board where each house’s captains, the house picture and points are displayed
  • Children can earn points by taking part in school activities
  • A maximum of 5 points should be awarded at any one time, except in exceptional circumstances!
  • Points should not be deducted.

Points can be awarded for the following:

  • Good work
  • Good behaviour (in class and around the school)
  • House events
  • Representing the school
  • Personal achievements outwith school
  • House competitions held in assemblies

House points will be collected every week. Accumulated weekly points will be recorded on the relevant House Board. At the end of each month the House with the most points will be recorded on the relevant House Board. The house with the most points for that month will be awarded an extra playtime. Remember: no badge, no playtime!

There will be a termly treat for the winning house.

The winning house receives a trophy at the end of the year.

Replacement house badges can be purchased from the office. Current cost is 20p.
