Primary 7 have had such a busy STEM week! It’s been packed. On Monday we did a lego build challenge to build a rocket using exactly 100 pieces. Next we did a build challenge with Coatbridge High to design and build a bridge that could hold as much weight as possible. It had to be a certain height and width and be an attractive design.

We conducted the bottle flip challenge in class. We had to use  a variety of different shapes and sizes of bottles and conduct an experiment to see what shape and size would flip the best.

Then Coatbridge High visited and gave us a maths problem to solve. We had to work out the cost to fill the classroom with malteasers.

We had the Science Centre visit us with great exhibits for us to explore on the human body and they even presenting a disgusting digestion show.

The next day we were visited by ‘The Shape Man’ who showed us how to make a dodecahedron with paper.

It was also Outdoor Classroom Day and we headed to the forest next to complete a technology challenge to build shelters in case it rained. We headed to another forest to complete a Citizen Science tree health survey next.

Finally, a particle physicist visited the class to talk to us about energy sources and answer our many questions.
