June 2019 Newsletter

June 2019

Dear Parents,

The summer holidays are almost upon us and we have been very busy with Sports Days, Outings, Summer Assembly and are now looking forward to this week’s Garden Party – hopefully the weather will be good! Before we break for the summer I would like to inform you of a few important issues:-

School Uniforms

School uniform is very important to us and we encourage the children to wear it at all times.

School uniforms can be ordered from the school or purchased directly from the BE Schoolwear Shop, Main St. Wishaw.  Reminder that uniform consists of gold polo shirt, maroon sweatshirt both with school logo, grey skirt or trousers. A maroon waterproof jacket and school bag are also available.  Please remember to write your child’s name on polo shirts, sweatshirts and outdoor jackets – this saves us a lot of confusion and lost property!!!

Healthy Eating

Healthy eating is very important to us and where possible we ask you to provide your child with healthy snacks and avoid fizzy juice. Due to allergies we also operate a “no nuts” policy within the school.

School Leavers

We say a sad farewell to our 19 P7 pupils who are moving on to pastures new – Andrew, Mouhamad, Josh, Abhinav, Emma, Dean, Billy, James Matthew, Ciar, Szymon, Emily, Phoebe, Adam, Calum, Lewis, David, Marc, Blair and Justin. We also say farewell to Mark (Rm.2) who is moving to a new school in August. We wish them good luck in their new schools and all the best for the future as we will miss them all.

Staff Update

This week we welcomed a new Support Assistant, Charlene Foster and we have been allocated a new Class Teacher, Suzanne Mooty who will join us in August.

Classes 2019-20

Our expected roll next session will be 121 pupils who will accommodate 14 classes.

Parent Council

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Parent Council for their hard work over the past year.  They have been a great help, working with us to support the young people in a number of practical ways including introducing a 50:50 Club which provided prizes for those signed up and funds for the group. Please look out for details on how to sign up in the new term. The recent P7 Leavers Party was again a huge success and enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff!!

Youth Club & Summer Programme

The largely parent run, award winning Youth Club continues to be hugely successful and I would encourage you to consider letting your child access this fabulous resource after the summer. Congratulations and thanks to all the volunteers who continue to give so generously of their time.

The Summer Programme has been expanded this year and will run over 3 weeks. 79 pupils have signed up and I know they will have great fun enjoying a range of activities and meeting up with their friends during the holidays. A huge thanks to Mrs McGuire who has co-ordinated all of the planning.

Lastly, I would like to thank all parents and carers for the support given to the staff and myself over this past year.  It is both a pleasure and privilege to work with your remarkable young people on a daily basis.

School will finish on Friday 28th June at 1.00 p.m.

School re-opens for children on Wednesday 14th August at 8.55 a.m.

We hope everyone has a great holiday and look forward to seeing you in August!
