House System

We are always looking for ways to enable our pupils to have their voice heard and meaningfully engage them with the work of the school. Our House System strengthens the sense of pride in the school identity and build the collegiality of our school community.

We have 4 Houses, each one with a P7 House Captain and P6 Vice Captain. The children who were interested in applying for these roles, prepared a short speech for their House group, telling them why thought they would be suitable for the position, and were voted in by their peers.

DPS House System

How does it work ?

  • We will try to keep siblings in the same House group.
  • Each House Group will meet once a month with the staff members assigned to that House.
  • Each year the P6 Vice Captains will take over as Captain and new Vice Captains will be re-elected.
  • There will be different opportunities throughout the school year to earn ‘House Points’. These will be recorded each week by our House Captains, and announced at assembly. Each House will continue to accumulate points throughout the year. At the end of each term, the winning House will receive a reward to be negotiated with school staff. The overall winning house at the end of the school year will be presented with a trophy, and the members will receive a reward.
  • The children will be involved in many activities and events throughout the year within their House group.
  • The focus of the House meetings will vary depending on the issues or events coming up within our school. This is a great forum for our leadership groups and committees to share what the has been going on, get feedback and get the whole school community involved.
