Update

Free School Meals update

More than 17,700 families have been sent weekly vouchers via SMS (from CASHOUT) for free school meals. The majority of families will receive their voucher by text this week.

Our team is working hard to update the phone details of people with new mobile numbers. While we do that, we will send paper vouchers to the small number of families whose details are currently being updated. Please don’t worry if you still haven’t received a voucher as we are processing these on an ongoing basis.

If you have not received anything by text or post by Monday 27 April, please email the team on FME@northlan.gov.uk with the following details:

  • Child’s name/children’s names:
  • Date(s) of birth:
  • School Attended:
  • Home Address:
  • Mobile Phone Number:

21st April 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

First of all we would like to thank you all for your continued support and understanding during these challenging times. We hope that all members of our school community are safe and well and that you have enjoyed your time together during the Spring break.

Many of our learners are adjusting to life without school, for a while at least. As a staff team we are also adjusting to this new way of working and volunteering our support where required. We will continue to make sure we have learning resources to share with you, even if things are a bit different. Our staff team are continuing to use our school website and Glow to share learning resources and we are proud of how well the children are responding to this.

For the latest information and advice, go to www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/coronavirus

If any, Cumbernauld families are in need of assistance or support, please send an email to enquiries@cumbernauld-pri.n-lanark.sch.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

E Clinton

New Term – Welcome Back!

Hi All our Pupils of Cumbernauld Primary,

Welcome back after the Easter Break. We hope you all managed to have a lovely time.  The sunny weather has certainly been helping.  All the staff are missing seeing you and are sending their best wishes. Your teachers have been busy preparing new activities for your class and group.  You can access them here on the website (see Home Learning Grids above) or on ‘Microsoft Teams’ using your Glow login.  Many pupils and parents have been in touch asking questions and keeping us updated on what they have been doing.  It is so lovely to hear from you – it helps us to stay connected and continue to build our community even in these unusual times.  Your teachers will be available on Teams to answer any questions you may have. Please see the information below to find out more about accessing Teams and our Code of Conduct.

We also have a CPS Family Team where you can post general information about what you have been up to.  We know that these are strange and challenging times for everyone so just do what you can and if we can support you further please email our enquiries (enquiries@cumbernauld-pri.n-lanark.sch.uk) or for technical support contact the emails provided below.

Remember, most importantly, to stay safe, happy and healthy. Sending you all our very best wishes.

Microsoft Teams App

If you are finding accessing the teams via GLOW a little difficult to navigate, please be aware that there is a Microsoft Teams app available on the app store for free of charge.  The username is the same but requires to be converted to an email address so for example (gw17pupilanon@glow would become gw17pupilanon@glow.sch.uk). The password would be the same one used for logging into GLOW.

Many of our staff are finding it much easier to use and much more user friendly.

All learning grids and resources for this week are available on the class teams, but are also available on our website.

Please contact us using the emails below if you require any further information regarding usernames and log in details.

Free school meals

Free school meals

New direct payment system for free school meals – COVID-19

We have put in place a system to make sure your child or children get their free school meal entitlement during the coronavirus emergency.

From Monday 6 April, you will now receive one £20 voucher once per week for each eligible child. This will come to you by text, email or by post. How you get your voucher depends on the contact details we have for you.

You can take this voucher to any shop which has Paypoint. You can find your nearest Paypoint shops on their website at consumer.paypoint.com

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to a Paypoint shop near you.
  2. Select your food and take it the counter. You then exchange your voucher for cash.
  3. You must spend it in the shop where you exchange your voucher.

You must spend your cash in the shop where you exchange your voucher for two reasons:

  • Firstly you must not make any unnecessary journeys to comply with government guidance.
  • Secondly you will be supporting your local business.

We monitor the Paypoint system to ensure that vouchers are being used. Almost everyone in North Lanarkshire is already following these rules. Please follow the rules above to ensure that you aren’t increasing the risk of spreading coronavirus.

Some shops might refuse to take the voucher and usually this is because people are not spending the voucher in their shop so they are running out of money. If this happens you should go to your next nearest Paypoint shop.

The message will be sent either as a text message to your mobile phone, by email or as a printed copy if you don’t have internet access.

Funding for the additional element of this provision has come from the £3m emergency fund, which has been set up by the council to deal with the health crisis.

Please email FME@northlan.gov.uk if you require any further information.

We are aware of fraudulent emails circulating asking for bank details of those with children entitled to free school meals.

Please be aware that we do not require your bank details.

Please note that we will only be opening four school hubs on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April and for every weekend going forward, following a review of demand for this service at weekends.

The four school hubs below will be open between the hours of 10am to 3pm at the weekends for children of any key worker:

St Ambrose High School, Townhead Rd, Coatbridge ML5 2JE

Hilltop Primary School, Petersburn Rd, Airdrie ML6 8BH

Clyde Valley High School, Castlehill Rd, Wishaw ML2 0QS

Cumbernauld Academy, South Kildrum Ring Rd, Cumbernauld G67 2UF

We will continue to provide the school and childcare service at ten hubs Monday to Friday from 8am until 8pm.

Please note that following a review of demand, the hub that covers the area of Kilsyth and surrounding villages is now at St Patrick’s Family Learning Centre, (next to the primary school), Backbrae Street, G65 0NA. This facility will cater for children of all ages.

All of our school hubs will be open from:

Monday to Friday (ten school hubs) – between the hours of 8am and 8pm

Saturdays and Sundays (four school hubs) – between the hours of 10am to 3pm

Family Learning Centres will continue to operate over the Easter holiday period and will be in direct contact with parents/carers utilising these facilities.

Please note that due to low demand, Jigsaw and Stepping Stones Family Learning Centres in Muirhead and Stepps will be closed from Thursday 9 April but parents and carers can still access childcare and school support at nearby Chryston High School.

Volunteer staff should attend hub school nearest their place of work for 8.45am.

Happy Easter to everyone at Cumbernauld Primary School.  We hope you manage to have some lovely family times over the Easter break whilst staying safe and healthy. Please see our wee Easter Fun activity sheet attached below.  We would love to see some photographs of your activities in our CPS Family Team – this will help us to stay in touch.
Please ensure you are posting a photograph of your activity or design only – no photographs of yourself or other people please – we are very mindful of keeping you all safe.  We’d love to see what you have been up to in our CPS Family Team.
Happy Easter everyone.  We’ll post some new home learning activities after the holiday.
Parents – you can download the Microsoft Teams App.  This makes it a little easier and quicker to access. You will need your child’s GLOW login details.
