Project Edward

Message from Mrs Kiernan:

This week is the start of Project EDWARD which stands for Every Day Without A Road Death. Cumbernauld Primary as usual is pledging to support this great cause by signing the pledge.
The theme for this year is “Fit For The Road”, meaning is a car fit for the road.
Mrs Kiernan is going to take a few pupils from each class and head out to the car park. They will see the inside of an engine ,Mrs Kiernan’s car and be shown what is what.
The pupils will also see the inside of the car and be shown the lights, handbrake, seatbelts mirrors.
They will also learn the 20p trick in checking the tread of a tyre.
This is a little bit of fun but a serious side as well.
After they have completed their investigation, the pupils return to their class and talk about what they have learned.
Thank you for your support in keeping everyone safe on our roads.

COVID Update- Thursday 2 September 2021

COVID Update

Dear Parent/Carer,

I can confirm that we have had positive cases of Covid-19 and NHS Lanarkshire’s Test and Protect team will be carrying out contact tracing.

Can I guide you to the letter on our website signed by Dr John Logan, Acting Director of Public Health, NHSL which explains clearly the new procedure for schools when we are notified of a positive case within the school.

As previously detailed whole classes will no longer be asked to self-isolate if someone in the class tests positive for COVID-19. There will be no requirement for your child to self-isolate unless you are contacted by Test and Protect – the contact tracing service.

I would wish to reassure you that we have in place all the recommended infection prevention and control measures and a thorough cleaning programme for our building.

It remains important to remember that mixing socially in the community without maintaining physical distancing measures helps the virus to spread widely. It is therefore important that people remain vigilant and follow physical distancing guidance, including during school drop off and pick up. Pupils and staff should wash their hands thoroughly and regularly using soap and water for 20 seconds.

Individuals who experience any Covid-19 symptoms such as a cough, fever or loss of taste or smell, even if they are mild, should stay off school or work and get tested. Information on how to access testing is available at: www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

If you have any questions about coronavirus please visit www.nhsinform.scot in the first instance, or call the helpline on 0800 028 2816.

Yours sincerely

Sun Safety

sun clipart - Clip Art Library

Dear Parent / Carer,

SUN SAFETY

We are now seeing the sunshine again and our children are enjoying the benefits of playing outdoors. However, we seek your support to ensure your child is protected from damage to their skin. You may wish to consider applying a sunscreen that is a once a day application formula to your child first thing in the morning. Please note that our staff are not able to apply sunscreen to children at school. It may also be helpful for your child to wear clothes and sunglasses that provide sun protection, such as:

  • a wide-brimmed hat that shades the face, neck and ears
  • a long-sleeved top
  • trousers or long skirts in close-weave fabrics that do not allow sunlight through
  • sunglasses with wraparound lenses or wide arms with the CE Mark and British Standard Mark 12312-1:2013 E

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards

Ed Clinton
