Primary transition update:
As we come to the end of the school year we thought it would be good to provide you with an update as we understand that many of you may be feeling anxious about your young persons move to high school and have many questions.
At Greenfaulds we have been fortunate that so many of our primary pupils had been able to engage in our transition programme prior to schools shutting. Transition began back in September with our information evening and opportunity to sign up to our family learning workshops that took place in February. We also had our annual Christmas Science Lecture, and Science Fair as well as visits to departments. Pupils have been able to take part in PE sessions, science lessons and a range of activities throughout the year that were all designed to help the transition to secondary.
Since lockdown in March, we have developed an online transition programme where pupils and parents had the opportunity to meet key members of staff and have a virtual tour of the school, which has been well received by families. This week we have been meeting with some young people and families who have additional support needs and have been involved in an enhanced transition. As a result of all of these opportunities, there will be no visits to the school for the remainder of P7 pupils before our return in August. We have arranged with our Primary colleagues for transition gift packs to be passed on to all primary 7 pupils that will be joining us in August. If you have any queries then please don’t hesitate to contact us via the contact form on the GHS Primary 7 page on the school website. We will continue to provide updates regarding arrangements as we get them.
