Cooking at the High School

On Wednesday half of the primary 7s got a chance to go over to Chryston high school to take part in some cooking at the home economics department. The rest of the primary 7s are going in two weeks time.

We really enjoyed going over to the high school and we learned lots of new skills and how we can help to make meals at home.

We created Rainbow Pizza pitta bread. To make this you must:

  1. Find all of your equipment which is: chopping board, knife, cup, spoon/measuring spoons, a baking tray and a greater and plate
  2. Get your ingredients witch are: Red onion, red and green pepper, mixed herbs, tomato puree, sweet corn, cheddar cheese and pitta bread.
  3. First pre-heat your oven. Next put in 15ml of tomato puree into your cup. Then 1.25ml of your mixed herbs. (Mix until you can’t really see the herbs).
  4. Leading on take your peppers and onions and dice them into little but not too little, squares.
  5. Take your greater, plate and cheese and only grate enough to fill the pitta bread.
  6. Then get your pitta bread and put it on the baking tray.
  7. Following on spread your sauce on with you spoon.
  8. After that take your cheeses and place it on the pitta bread.
  9. Then take your onion and only put in on ¼ of the pizza. Then do the same for the pepper and the sweet corn in a rainbow pattern.
  10. Cook it in the oven for 10 minutes.

World War Two Topic

We are now coming to the end of our topic but so far we have done a lot. We have made our sad soldier art. In the sad soldier art we basically drew our sad soldier then got different shades of green tissue paper along with some brown and covered the background of the soldier with it. it looks really cool. We then made our propaganda posters which were actually loads of fun to make because we got to do little slogans like fight for your county or fight for freedom join now, stuff like that. Next we did our blitz pictures and to do this we used black paper, paint or crayon. This one looked really cool and stood out great. We learned lots of facts as well and the World War Two topic has been great to do.

P2 Paired Reading

Primary 7 have been working with the primary 2s to take part in paired reading. This has been a good experience for us and we have completely enjoyed it. We have listened to the primary 2s reading and have created games and activities for the children to take part in.

Codi- We read the book first and then we started to look at the words and take part in activities.

Jack- I used play dough with my reading partner to make her spelling words.

Gregor- I work with Alfie and he enjoys all the tasks I do with him.

Hannah- Charlotte is a very nice reader we have been doing two parts sentences wither her common words.

Bethany w- we done some fun spelling and reading

Orla- we used the playdogh to do our spelling

We make tasks up for them to do we try and find what words they find tricky and help them find a way to work it out

Over all I think we all really enjoy working with the p2 and are all hoping to do this for as long as we can.

On Thursday it was world book day. We created selfies of two of our favourite characters and then created a character profile to describe these characters. Where’s wally is a popular character in our class!

Our Learning

Last week we finished up on money in maths. We did some maths stations we had: Money problem solving , we had our three dream jobs down on the white board, money games and we also had to create our own websites on blank paper using our knowledge of budgets.

Scottish Week

This week we have been celebrating Robert Burns throughout a variety of activities. We have worked on Tam O’Shanter in literacy in order to understand the poem and try to work out the Scottish words.

Gregor-I read verse 3,4,15 and 16 of Tam O Shanter. Verse 3 and 4 is about A man called Tam went out to the bar to have a pint not listening to his wife Kates advice because there was a storm brewing and he got drunk and shouted at some people who then chased him. Verse 15 and 16 i figured out some translations e.g: The piper louder and louder blew the dancers quicker and quicker flew( The pipers pipes got louder and louder as the dancers danced quicker and quicker.) Now Tam O Tam had thae been queens A plump and strapping in their teens( Now Tam O Tam will they ever be queens now all plump and gloomy in their teens.) Thir breeks o mine ma only pair that once were plush o gude blue hair (Those trousers of mine my only clean pair that once were rich blue in colur like fresh dyed blue hair.)

In PE we have been doing hand ball. I like to do this for PE because it is very competitive and I like working in a team.

We’ve also been doing more health and we are looking at what it means to do green exercise. All this means is to do exercise outside, like going on the trampoline or riding a bike.
