Prince of and Unkown Realm

This terms topic is the Very Important Bear. The Very Important Bear is a bear called Buddy who was the main star of the films we made. We were split into 7 groups of 3 and I was in a group with Grace B and Jordan B. The first thing that we did was write individual movie pitches about a story. We had to present it to the class. We chose to take Graces movie pitch called Prince of and Unknown Realm. After the movie pitch we made idea boards about our movies and scenes. We added in more information and as a group thought of new ideas for the film. Next we had a visit from Miss Hunter from Primary 4 and she taught us about storyboards and camera angles. The next day we took that information into account and made our very own storyboards with pictures. We also made 2 scenes that Grace B was in charge of. We made a forest and a Queens Lair. During the making of the films we worked on games. We made pairs and a actor knowledge game. Next we worked on the script that we would be using in the film. We wrote 6 scenes of script for the 6 scenes in our movie. We also worked on a poster with pictures of the realm and in big bold writing the words PRINCE OF AN UNKNOWN REALM. We were now ready to film. Charlie was the camera man for the first three scenes whilst Jordan was Buddy. Grace was Tracy, Alloah, Photon and the evil Queen. Once we had finished the filming we would have an Oscars Evening.

The Oscars was yesterday at 2pm. Charlie and Grace Sherry opened the show. It started off with showing all of the films. Finding Buddy, Buddy Bond, Buddy’s Big Adventure, Prince of an Unknown Realm, Bearassic Park, The Odd Love Story and How The Bear Stole Christmas. We were all set up in stations and after the films everybody came around the stations and played our games and looked at our board. Everybody who came around were very positive to every group. After that everybody sat down in their chairs again and waited for the moment of truth, The Awards. Every group won an award and our group got best scenery. The best film award was Bearassic Park made by Abigail Baird, Scott Adamson and Jordan Fleming. The show was closed by Helen Boywer and Scott Menzies.

Buddy Bond

Over the past few weeks, Primary 7 has made short movies. We got put in 7 groups of 3 and made movies starring Buddy the Bear. Our movie was called Buddy Bond. It is about a bear called Buddy Bond and he defeats Barbie with the help of his friend Dave. We showed our work at the 1st annual Primary 7 Oscars. We all showed our work and won oscars. Our group won Best Co-opertive Group. The afternoon was very succesful and we all enjoyed it.

Math and Time

For math primary seven have been learning about time. We have been looking at duration, analogue, digital and 24 hour time. We have done various different activities to help us improve when reading the time. Primary sevens have used things like train timetables, cinema schedules and the tryst opening and closing hours to work out the duration of time. We have been using a whiteboard worksheet which has on it three boxes for analogue, three boxes for 24 hour and three boxes for digital. We have to do an analogue time and then right it in 24 hour.

Peer Mediation

A few weeks ago we had a two day peer mediation training. Peer mediation is when two or more people have an argument and would like to sort the problem. We have learned about how to deal with anger and various emotions so we can deal with a situation properly. Soon in your playground you will see primary sevens wondering about in your playground. If you do have a problem in the playground we are not going to force you into coming, it is voluntary.

Our Learning by P7

This week Primary 7 have been doing lots of learning. For our IDL, which is Space, we have been making 3d planets with paper mache. For RME we have been lerning about philanthropy. In German we have written a letter to a pen pal and have been practising all our german vocabulary from Primary 6. For Health and Wellbeing, we have been working on our ball skills, and athletics. In literacy we have been doing inferencing, using our novel “Clockwork”, by Philip Pullman. For Taught Writing we have written an informative report about when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon. As well as this we wrote acrostic poems of our planets. My planet is Neptune. We had to write around about a paragraph for each letter. After we had written it in our jotters we had to re draft it onto a A4 piece of paper. For homework we also had to make lunar calendar/cycle. I did mine for September 2013. So far it has been right.

Leavers Assembly

On Friday the 21st of June 2013 P7 hosted there Leavers Assembly to show the school everything they had learned through 7 years at Primary School.   Friends, Family and Teachers came to support and watch us.  We wrote the assembly ourselves and we showcased our talents from singing and dancing to acting and gymnastics.      We really enjoyed it and we loved that everyone we loved could be there to watch.   We are sad to be leaving but we have enjoyed our 7 years at Primary and are looking forward to moving on up to High school. Thank you to everyone that came and to everyone that has helped us learn and has helped us to be the successful Primary 7s we are today.

Primary 7 Running

The past few weeks Mrs.White has taken Primary 7 to the Moor Park to practice for our high school gym test. At the Moor Park we walk\jog around the park twice to warm-up then we do some stretches. Then Mrs.White puts 12 minutes on her phone timer and lines us all up in a row. She starts the timer and we have to run around the park as slow as we want but if we stop we are disqualified. We have started doing this running instead of gym so that we can do our best in our High School gym test.

Between the 29th April and 3rd May 2013 Chryston Primary had their Science Week. All the classes have done Science this week and our class have made their own Paper Aeroplane, Boat and Parachute as part of our Science Week. At Stage Assembly Mrs Miller and some 3rd years from the High School came down to give us the challenge of making the tallest and free-standing tower. On Friday 2 people from the Science Centre came to our school to show us how the Human Bodies Digestive system works. We really enjoyed Science Week and the show was very interesting and funny! Our favourite part of the show was the bit were made a mix of all the things that the man from the Science Centre had eaten the day before. It was a great week and the show on Friday topped it off brillantly
