Exploding Volcano

In class we made model volcanoes using a plastic bottle, card, lots of scrap paper and coloured tissue paper.  We then exploded them outside by mixing hot water, fairly liquid, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar.  A chemical reaction took place and CO2 was released. Co2 is a gas which is released during real eruptions. In class we then discussed the variables we would change next time to observe changes in the flow of the ‘lava.’

  1. Your volcanoes look fantastic Primary 7! Well done. Looks like you all had great fun watching your science experiments come to life and erupt like a real volcano 🙂
