Primary Seven have had their next school trip to Celtic Connectuions! Celtic Connections is a musical about the life of Jimmy MacDonald in World War 1, it was called far, far from the Ypres. The musical was in The Royal Concert Hall. This was a celebatory performance as its 100 years from the war. They handed out booklets telling people about the songs and the production, there was a list of songs in the books as well.
They sang lots of Scottish songs that the soldiers sang back in the war to keep them happy.
The first song was Last Long Mile\Mademmoiselle. There was a narrator, that would speak in between all the intresting songs. A lot of the class came home singing one of the songs. That song was ‘Black is the sun’. It was the favourite, and creepiest song of them all!
On the booklet we got, there was words to one of the songs. I found this out first and told Grace, so we sung along to the music!
We had a good time watching the performance.

A trip out to the Concert Hall – lucky you! It sounds like it was worthwhile. However, I don’t know if any of the others on the bus would’ve enjoyed the singing on the way home!
