On Wednesday two people from Hopscotch came in to the School and did a play all about Robert Burns’s life. It started off with Robert Burns in his death bed and he was telling the story of his life. Him, his family and other farmers around him were too poor to afford to pay for lessons at a School so they saved all the money they could to pay for a teacher to come to the farm and teach them. He was first inspired to write his first poem when he was 15 and it was for a girl he liked. He asked a girl to marry him when he was twenty five, she accepted but her father wouldnt allow it as he was too poor and banished him from the town with the promise of that if he ever came back he would be locked away. He decided to go to Jamaica where he could get a job and earn money so he could return and marry the girl of his dreams. He was persuaded not to go as his book of poems were published. He eventually got married to a girl called Jean. It eventually took us back to his death bed where the devil took him away, but that does not mean he went to hell. P5, 6 and 7 all really enjoyed this show, we really learnt a lot about Robert Burns. We were very impressed how the actors changed characters so quickly and well. The music and the drama was very entertaining.
It sounds like yo learned a lot from this Hopscotch performance.
It looks like you really enjoy having visitors and workshops into school and you learnt a lot from this one.
