Review of the week ending 23rd November 2012

This week we have been learning about apostrophes, where to put them and where not to put them e.g they are =they’re. We did dictation with apostrophes and we found it cool but for some of us it was tricky. After doing diction we had a spelling bee with our words it was fun.

In maths we calculated the distance from Glasgow to 5 other countries e.g Glasgow to Los Angeles is 4970 miles. Next we put the distances in order from shortest to longest. In class we calculated 0.2 miles from the school for park & stride distance and made a map showing the 0.2 distance round school. We will issue this to everyone.

For health and well-being we did some bulling & conflict work and how you would feel to be bullied. We did an activity as a boys team and a girls team and we had to do what you would do if you saw someone being bullied.

It was good to learn how you would feel to be bullied, it was a good way to learn what to do and what not to do so all the class enjoyed it.

That is just some of the things primary 6 have been up to this week, bye.

  1. Primary 6 you have been doing some really good work on bullying, thank you all for your Keynotes you made for me last week.
The Park and Stride map will be great for everyone to have, I have had a few parents ask me questions about this. So glad I don’t need to walk to Los Angeles though!!!
Apostrophes are difficult to work out but keep working on them and you will see and hear the difference in your writing. I look forward to seeing you try to use them in the coming weeks when I look at your language jotters.
    Keep up the hard work!

  2. Apostrophes are tricky – just remember that when you see a plural you don’t put in an apostrophe. I remember way back in primary 4, there was one infamous culprit in this class – you know who you are!
