Peer Assessment in Reading

image image image image image imageToday we worked with partners from our reading groups.  We had sheets that had two stars and a wish.  We had to choose a section of the book to read and then  we read to our partners.  Our partners then commented on our two stars and a wish sheet about our reading.  The two stars means something they did well and the wish was something they could do better.

Lewis – Peer reading helps us to focus on pronouncing our words correctly.

Angus R- Peer reading helps you to get more fluent in reading.

Angus M – Peer reading helps us to improve our reading skills.

Jordan – It helps you to know what other readers are like and it helps you to listen carefully.

Kali – It helps you to read loudly and clearly.

Lorna – It helps you because your wish tells you what you need to work on.

Food Hygiene

Today we were learning how to be safe and healthy around food and not spread germs.

We know to be sensible around kitchen equipment.  Hair should be tied back and hands washed before cooking.  Jewellery shold also be taken off.  Food should be stored in a fridge or a cupboard depending on the type of food.  Raw meat should be kept away from cooked meat.

We made acrostic poems about food hygiene to show the rules that we know and follow.  By Ben and Lewis

Here are some of our facts…

Angus R – A metre is 100cm.

Brooke- We can use metre sticks to measure.

Ben- You can use a measuring tape.

Jake – The metric units of measure are kilometres, metres and centimetres.

Rachel- There are some we don’t learn in Primary school like inches and miles.

This is the imperial system which was used around 45 years ago.

Now we are off outside to use some tools for measuring different things in the playground.

P5 Facts About France

Today we are doing some initial research about France.  Here are some facts we have found out:

Angus R – the population is over 64 million.  There are only around 5 million in Scotland so this is more than 12 times the size of Scotland.

Jake – Three of the biggest rivers are the Loire, the Rhone and the Seine.

Lewis – Some of the mountains are called Mont Blanc and Blanc Puy de Dome.

Liam – There is a city called Saone.

Isla – The capital city is Paris

Jordan – some cities are Paris, Rennes, Dijon and Toulon.

We are making pic collages and presentations on the information we have found and hope to show you them soon.
