Science and Eco

Our topic this term is electricity. So far we have learnt that there are multiple kinds of electricity. There is mains electricity, static electricity and battery electricity.  Mains electricity is the one we use at home.we have learnt that mains electricity comes from power stations. We have also learnt that lighting is a kind of static electricity.we are all enjoying our topic.

For committees we have been working with primary 7. So far we have been learning that it is good to save water and power. We also learned about how hard life is in different countries. It was sad to learn that only 15% of the world’s population have taps inside their homes. To imagine how hard it is for people who have to travel to get their water, we did a role-play task. We went around the playground holding a big jug or a plastic box filed with water. Every one realised that it was very hard.

Maths Week Scotland

This week we have been focusing on learning about time. The whole school was focusing on this concept. We made a mind map of everything we knew about time. We investigated different units, devices and displays in real life. We then focused on developing our calendar reading skills then moved onto learning about the value of planning and time management. We enjoyed using our imaginations to make up a calendar of events for a celebrity of our choice.  Taking part in the Sum Dog challenge was great! Another highlight of the week was the Hopscotch Theatre company performance all to do with numeracy.

First week back

This week it has been fun.

In maths the squares has been doing time in 12 hour format. The triangles have been working on converting units of time.

During Health yesterday we were doing a report about health. To stay healthy, we must be careful with our diet, how often we exercising and our hygiene.

In science we have been testing serial circuits. We learned about parallel circuits.  They control machines like a robots.
