As you know we love using ICT when learning and today we extended our skills in calculating money problems by playing a game on top marks.
At the start of this new term in P.E. we will be focusing on the skills and abilities needed to play a game of golf. Today we learned some of the names associated with golf, how to hold a putter and use it safely and most importantly how to control the speed of the ball.
All the children in P3/4 and their two teachers would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter and a wonderful holiday.
Here we are with our Easter eggs …we had to do an egg hunt round the school to find them!
Looking forward to seeing all these happy faces on Monday 16th April ready to start the summer term.
Our new topic in primary 3/4 is all about sound.
We started by looking at the mechanics of the ear, which we found really interesting.
Next we went on a sound walk around the school, recording all the noises we could hear, both loud and quiet.
We know that sound can move through the air, but we wanted to find out if it would travel through string, so we decided to carry out a little experiment using string and two cups. Check out our experiment in the pictures below.
One of the important things we found during our experiment was that the string had to be tight to work.
This week our new focus in maths has been money.
We have spent some time identifying coins and notes used in Britain and we are learning to count out the exact amount we would need to purchase an item.
Much of our learning experience has taken place through board games, ICT games and worksheets. Counting money has been tricky, but we are going to keep practising until we get it right.
What a superb bunch of cooks we had today!!
These five children chose to make toast for everyone in the class.
Here they are keeping an eye on the toast so that it doesn’t burn, buttering it to make it soft and tasty and showing off their cutting skills as they cut it ready to serve to the class.
Well done super cooks!!
In maths we have been learning about fractions and it’s been tricky.
Today however we had great fun playing a game called roll it. We threw a fraction dice and using a worksheet we coloured in the fraction shown on the dice. It was a race to see which team would finish first!!
excitement!!
