A busy month in Primary 2!

Hello everybody!

We are so sorry that it has been so long since we have written a blog post on here. We have been super busy!

School Trip
We went to the Museum of Rural Life for our school trip and had an amazing time. It was great fun getting to learn about farms.

Sophie: My favourite bit was when we got to see the little piglets. They were so cute!

Brodie: My favourite bit was all of it.

Ava: My favourite bit was when we got to see the kitchen. It was a farm house kitchen.

Class Assembly
The day after our trip, we had our class assembly. We were so excited to tell the adults all about our chicks. We sang a song and performed fantastically.

Roxana: At the end we got to do activities and got the chance to hold the chicks. It was fun.

Liam: My favourite part was when my mum got to hold the chick!

Evie: My favourite part was when I was holding the chick.

Health Week
Last week, it was Health Week in Chryston Primary School and we got to participate in lots of health activities. We had the chance to ride our bikes and scooters around the playground, go for a walk and make a healthy snack in class.

Mia: My favourite part was when we were riding the bikes and scooters.

Sienna: My favourite part was when we went to the park.

Ewan: My favourite part was when I got to cut the fruit to make our snack.

Aila: My favourite part was when we got to make the healthy snack.

Holly: My favourite part was when we went on our walk.

Jared: My favourite part was when we were eating the healthy snacks.

Jay: My favourite part was when we got the eat the health snack.

Sports Day
Finally, last week we also had Sports Day. We all got the chance to participate in different races and cheer on our classmates. We all had a great time and tried our very best. Miss Anderson was so impressed with how hard all the boys and girls in class tried and the great sportsmanship they showed.

James: I liked it when we done the running race.

Ryan: I loved when I jumped over the hurdles.

Conor: I loved when I threw the beanbag in the shotput.

We have had a fantastic few weeks in Primary 2 and I hope you all enjoy looking at our photos.

Science in Primary 2

This week is Science week and we have been doing lots of science in our class this week. We have been learning about floating and sinking and about writing up our hypothesis.

Ava: We put an orange in water and it floated.

Lots of the boys and girls wrote in their hypothesis that they thought it would sink.

Liam: When we peeled the orange it sank. It’s because the skin had the air trapped.

Aila: Next we put the egg in the water and it sank.

Sophie: We put the egg in the water again and add lots and lots and lots of salt and then the egg floated.

Alfie: My favourite experiment was when the orange floated.

Neve: My favourite experiment was when the orange sunk.

Ewan: My favourite thing was when we put lots of salt to make the egg float.

Roxana: My favourite experiment was when the egg floated with all the salt in it.

Brodie: Mine was all of it!

We have had a great time being scientists in Primary 2 this week! Let us know about any experiments you have tried!

World Book Day

After all the chaos of the snow, we finally got to celebrate World Book Day! It was great to see all the children dressed up in a costume or dressed down in their pyjamas. I think we all loved how comfy we have been in our pjs all day, I know I have!

We have been talking about the books we like to read at home and at school today. During our literacy time, we wrote a review of our books and wrote about what we liked and didn’t like about them.

We also did a World Book Day quiz. The children worked in teams and all did so well answering questions about popular books!

I hope all the children had as good a day as I did!

A groovy week in Primary 2

In Primary 2 we have just started our new topic, Life in the 60s. We have been learning about fashion and technology in the 60s. We have been using the iPads to research this and it has been great.

Fashion in the 60s
Brodie: There was lots of tie-dye.
Aila: There was lots of long dresses.
Ava: There was loads of polka dots.
Arran: There was loads of high boots.
Kacey: I thought it was great.
Liam: I think it was awesome.
Evie: It was fandabbydozy.

We designed some 60s clothes for our dolls. They look fantastic.

Technology in the 60s
Orlagh: The TVs were black and white.
Alfie: The computers were very different.
Conor: They had no playstations or x-boxes.
Annie: They can only phone people on the phone, you couldn’t play games on the phone.

We’ve been having a great time learning all about the 60s. What do you think we should learn about next?

Homework

Hello everyone!

What a week we have had. With the school shutting early on Friday because of the snow, I never had the chance to hand out the homework sheet. I have attached the homework here and will give out a paper copy on Monday. I’m sorry if this causes anyone any inconveniences, do not worry about completing it all if you do not have the time.

Hope you all have a fun and safe weekend in the snow!

Arran: My new year’s resolution was to do all my chores.

Sophie: My new year’s resolution was eat more fruit and vegetables.

Ewan: One of my mine was to try new foods.

Roxana: Mine was to try new foods as well.

Donald: My one was to not be so lazy and to be active.

Evie: To eat more fruits and veg.

Liam: Mine was to make my bed everyday.

Annie: Mine was to tidy up my toys.

We had great fun thinking up our resolutions and making our guitars. Lets hope we all stick to our new year’s resolutions!

Leading PE

Today in Primary 2 some of the children were given the opportunity to lead their peers in our warm up.  They got to select an exercise for everyone to do, and chose how many times the others should do it.  They chose star jumps, side steps and tuck jumps to name a few!!  Look how great they look.
