S3 Romeo and Juliet Performances

Zeffirelli, Luhrmann, Olivier, Leigh – ain’t got nothing on Miss Burns’ S3 class who worked tirelessly for weeks to put on their own group performances of their favourite scenes from the world’s most famous love story (yes even more famous than Twilight!). Props were made, costumes were fashioned, lines were learned by heart. Former pupil, Fraser Burns once again lent his expertise to coaching and supporting pupils in their rehearsals. An absolutely tremendous effort from the S3! Bravo!

Two interpretations of the famous death scene.

Best group performance for Jamie Scott and David James

Joint Best Actor Award

Best Overall Performance for Alex Cameron – well done!

Best Actress for Rachel O’Neill

Endeavour Award for Daniel Beck

Best Costumes

Best Props

Best Group Preparation

Some action shots – the Capulets and Montague fight scene where they bite thumbs at each other and Friar Lawrence (looking mighty cool).

Miss Burns and Fraser were very impressed with everyone’s effort in putting on their little drama from the acting and costumes to the group work and respect. Well done!

“You can’t lose if you don’t play the game…” – Trip to Glasgow’s Theatre Royal

S2 and S3 enjoyed a trip to Glasgow’s Theatre Royal to see the Royal Shakespeare Company’s wonderful version of the classic tale of young love (or gang story, depending on your point of view…). It was many of our young people’s first experience of live theatre and they were delighted by the wonderful and powerful performances. Tickets were being taken home as souvenirs for memory boxes. They were impeccably behaved. Miss Robertson may even have had a tear in her eye at the end but sssshhh, don’t ruin her rep! 🙂
