The Rainbow Room Update

In the Rainbow Room we have been studying Friendship Terrace.  We have learned how to be friendly with each other.  We have met characters like Fitzroy First and Blurt Out Belinda who were not very nice people but we also met Friendly Freddie who always did the right thing.IMG_4097

We do lots of super work in the Rainbow Room.  We have been working really hard on our literacy.  Sometimes we use the magnetic boards or the whiteboards.  Other times we use the computer or the ipads to do spelling tasks or sentences and we use the Treasure Chest or the Alphabet Mat too.  We like to play beat the clock with the phonics boxes and challenge our partners with phoneme stories.  We work with buddies to improve our reading.

Primary 4 Wonder About Water…

This term, Primary 4 are exploring the properties of water.  During Science lessons, the children have investigated what happens when you mix oil and water together.  The children then predicted what would happen when washing up liquid was added.  The water and oil would mix together!

The class have also tried to make dancing raisins!  By pouring raisins into fizzy water, the raisins will move about when they are pushed by the bubbles.  The children have really enjoyed finding out what water can do.  More experiments to follow!

Airdrie Active Schools ‘Fun 4z’ Football Festival

On Thursday 19th February, pupils from Primary 3 and 4 took part in the Airdrie Active Schools Fun 4z Football Festival.  Accompanied by Miss Tierney and Mr Littlejohn, the children pictured played against teams of pupils from across the authority, in 4-a-side matches.

The goals came thick and fast, with the Chapelside team scoring collectively 5 goals across the festival.

Well done to all the children involved!
