WW1 Letters Home

Letters HomeGood luck to Mr Reilly’s S3 history pupils who have entered Poppy Scotland’s ‘Letters Home’ competition. This competition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme and pupils were asked to write a letter home as though they were soldiers fighting at the front. They were encouraged to think about sharing their experiences, emotions and describing the environment they were in, as well as the impact of their words on the letter’s recipient.

Foodbank

Foodbank ImageS3 pupils will be organising a foodbank collection to help out and support the local Trussell Trust Foodbank in Airdrie.

S3 appreciate that some are less fortunate than others and want to give a helping hand by donating food. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will go to a good cause.
Donations will be taken from 22 November to 13 December 2016.
Donated food can be placed in one of four boxes situated under each House name in the social area of the school. This will also be a House competition and House points will be awarded to the House which donates the most food.
There will also be a collection point at the Christmas Fare on Saturday, 26 November and we would ask anyone who is coming along to please bring one or two items to donate to the foodbank.
Suggested donations:
• Biscuits
• Cereal
• Pasta sauce
• Tea / coffee
• Tinned beans, fruit, meat, soup, and vegetables.
