Digital Leaders

The Digital Leaders held an informative and fun workshop with all S3 and S5 pupils and launched a recruiting drive for more pupils to become involved in the programme.
They presented a powerpoint on what is involved, the types of initiative that Leaders could become involved in, and then finished off with team-building exercises.

S4 Achieve Class

S4 Achieve Class recently took up the challenge of litter picking and helped clear the football pitches for the school’s annual Sports Day.
Nine bags of rubbish were collected including a satellite dish.
The group are hoping to do this again with children from the Shotts Family Learning Centre. Well done everyone!

Annual Awards Ceremony 2017

Obviously we are very proud of all our pupils at Calderhead High School and  were delighted to honour some of them at the annual awards ceremony on 21 June.

The ceremony was held at Calderhead Erskine Parish Church in Shotts and pupils, staff and proud family and friends attended. The guest speaker was Dr Fiona Menzies, a former pupil, who gave an inspirational speech and made us laugh as she recalled her first day at Calderhead High School. Dr Menzies lectures at the University of the West of Scotland and her teaching interests include host-pathogen interactions, immunology, physiology, and reproductive biology.

Our talented pupils also provided some excellent entertainment satrting with a spirited rendition of ‘Scotland the Brave’  by CHS Pipes & Drums. Our vocal group sang “Try Everything”,   Steven McLaren and Shana Murray performed ‘Ashokan Farewell’ accompanied by Mrs Prucnal, the  CHS Samba Band treated us to ‘Aquarela do Brasil’, Paige Bryce sang  ‘A Thousand Years’ ,  and ‘These Foolish Things’ was performed by Shana Murray, our  talented flautist. A special mention must go to S3 pupils, Jordan Muir and Andrew Hayburn, who provided excellent technical support and are worth successors to Andrew Lynch, our former School Captain and guru of all things technical!
