Celebrating Success – Awards Ceremony 2019

Awards 2019
Awards 2019

We are very proud of all our pupils at Calderhead High School and were delighted to celebrate their successes at the annual awards ceremony on 19 June 2019. The ceremony was held at Calderhead Erskine Parish Church in Shotts and pupils, staff and proud family and friends attended.

The guest speaker was Kenneth Martin, an architect and former pupil, who gave an inspiring speech and presented the awards. The entertainment was provided by our talented pupils (with just a little help from our excellent music department).

The ceremony started a spirited rendition of ‘The Green hills of Tyrol’ by the Calderhead Pipe Band, followed by a beautiful rendition of ‘Only You’ by the vocal ensemble. Ellyn MacPhee and Jennifer Deighan performed ‘Caledonia’ before the presentation of the awards, which were followed by a performance of ‘Your Song’ by Jack Stewart and ‘Thank you for the Music’ by Emma Elliott. Mackenzie Forrest and Liam McElhinney performed ‘MSR’ and the pipe band ended the ceremony with a rousing ‘Scotland the Brave’. Special mention to Mr Arbuckle, Andrew Hayburn and Jordan Muir, who were our technical wizards on the day.

Award Ceremony

Awards_2018We celebrated our pupils at our annual awards ceremony on 20th June 2018. The guest speaker was Dr Michelle Carlin, Senior lecturer in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry at Northumbria University and former pupil of Calderhead High School. Michelle delivered an inspiring speech about her time at Calderhead and her subsequent career, including funny stories about Harry Potter jumpers and her work with the Institut de Recherche Criminelle de la Gendarmerie Nationale (IRCGN) in Paris. We enjoyed wonderful musical performances from our piper, Douglas Pinkerton, and our drummers, Mackenzie Forrest, Morgan Lynch and Caitlyn Paxton. Our junior and senior choirs sang beautifully and there were marvellous solo performances from Carly Ogilvie and Sophie Whyte. Well done to all our award winners with special mention to our Dux, Jade McPhail, and Proxime Accesit, Kayleigh McLean, and to our S6 MVP Team, who won the Head Teacher’s Team of the Year.

Annual Awards Ceremony 2017

Obviously we are very proud of all our pupils at Calderhead High School and  were delighted to honour some of them at the annual awards ceremony on 21 June.

The ceremony was held at Calderhead Erskine Parish Church in Shotts and pupils, staff and proud family and friends attended. The guest speaker was Dr Fiona Menzies, a former pupil, who gave an inspirational speech and made us laugh as she recalled her first day at Calderhead High School. Dr Menzies lectures at the University of the West of Scotland and her teaching interests include host-pathogen interactions, immunology, physiology, and reproductive biology.

Our talented pupils also provided some excellent entertainment satrting with a spirited rendition of ‘Scotland the Brave’  by CHS Pipes & Drums. Our vocal group sang “Try Everything”,   Steven McLaren and Shana Murray performed ‘Ashokan Farewell’ accompanied by Mrs Prucnal, the  CHS Samba Band treated us to ‘Aquarela do Brasil’, Paige Bryce sang  ‘A Thousand Years’ ,  and ‘These Foolish Things’ was performed by Shana Murray, our  talented flautist. A special mention must go to S3 pupils, Jordan Muir and Andrew Hayburn, who provided excellent technical support and are worth successors to Andrew Lynch, our former School Captain and guru of all things technical!
