Maths and Numeracy Home Learning

The Maths and Numeracy department are using Glow (Glow Teams and Glow Outlook) to continue learning at home.

Every pupil timetabled to study maths has been assigned to a Glow Team where our teachers are setting regular home learning tasks and formal homework assignments as well as providing support to the pupils within the department on a daily basis. Sometimes we will send information, such as formal assignment feedback, to pupils via Glow Outlook (pupil emails) but the majority of communication and tasks are set on Glow Teams.

Glow Teams (classes, forums and learning materials) and Glow Outlook (pupil emails) can be found on the Glow launchpad best accessed through Google Chrome. Many users find it easier to access Glow Teams through the Microsoft Teams app, which can be downloaded to desktops and mobile devices. Every pupil in the school has a Glow login and help with Glow can be found here.

Remember to check Glow Teams for your maths and numeracy home learning regularly.
The teacher looking after your team might not be your usual class teacher – you should follow the instructions from the maths teacher(s) setting tasks in your team.
Having issues accessing maths work on Glow Teams? We should be able to help!

At Home Learning

All pupils have access to materials for at home study and revision on Glow Teams.

Pupils who are unable to access this should see their teacher who will remind them how to access Glow Teams.

If you are unable to be at school and are having issues accessing the maths and numeracy materials on Glow Teams please email Mrs Hunter on ptmaths@braidhurst.n-lanark.sch.uk and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.

S1 Competition Winners

Pupils in the Maths department have had fun learning about Fractions, Decimals and Percentages this week. As part of this they took part in a competition combining maths with Modern Art inspired by the work of Ellsworth Kelly. Our S1 winner was Jacky Luo, pictured with our S1 class winners Emily Findlay, Aaron Craig, Logan Lambert and Isabelle Costea.

Maths Week Scotland

We have been celebrating Maths Week Scotland this week.

Pupils have been participating in team problem solving challenges including Bowland Maths and Maths wi Nae Borders. Some of our S3 classes have been learning how the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans have influenced maths and some of our local P7s took part in our Practical Maths Challenge looking at problem solving, tolerance and measure whilst building mini football tables with jelly baby players.

Our S2s have had fun participating in the National Sumdog contest. Well done to all pupils who took part! Braidhurst’s top 5 pupils, pictured below, are Chloe McKenzie, Marshall Lennox, Robbie Kennedy, Emily Dougan and Katie Morrison.
