Making Together
Yesterday the Biggies went down to P1-2 to help them with their making. The P1-2s have been learning about old fashioned toys and had designed their own.
The biggies helped with the practical skills and problem solving in bringing the designs to life. Everyone worked really well and the p1-2s were delighted with their toys!
The P1-2s Explained what they were doing to their partners
I was putting some paint on the toy. The toy is a dragon. I made it out of cardboard. It is a pull toy.

A couple of weeks ago Mrs Meechan told us to do a design in our jotter of a push and pull toy. I designed a puppy called fluffy. It’s made with cardboard, milk bottle lid wheels, skewers and feathers. I like my push dog.

This is my push toy dog that I made with a biggie. We made it with cardboard and paint. 🐶

Here are some quotes from the Biggies:
I used lots of skills. I used, working with others, communication, leadership, creative thinking, problem solving, practical skills, literacy and maths. I used working with others by working with Quinn. I used communication to talk to Quinn. I used leadership to tell Quinn what to do. I used creative thinking to figure out how to make the toy. I used problem solving to solve problems in my creative thinking. I used practical skills while painting, cutting and sticking things and working with cardboard. I used literacy while making the keynote. I used maths while cutting and measuring. The thing I found tricky was making Quinn tell me about what we did today for the keynote. Something I found interesting was how Quinn could follow my instructions well (except the keynote).

When I was working with the little ones the skills that I used were working with others, communication, practical skills, maths, creative thinking, leadership I was using these skills by how I was working with them I was using them to keep them right and making sure that they weren’t wanting to do thing’s that they could not do I also had to actually d9 things for them so that they were right and they were going to work for them and they would be happy with what they had done and they would not have to go back and do a load of the stuff after they thought that they were done I did use all of these skills to do what I have just said I was working with Jackson and there was some thing’s that he could not do so I had to help him with them.

Skills I used are practical skills, communication, leadership and creative thinking. I used practical skills by cutting things out and gluing, communication by talking to the little ones about there ideas, leadership by asking their opinion and helping them and creative thinking by finding ways their ideas would work. It was tricky to get the wheels on because the cardboard circle was so delicate but that was solved by using a compass. It was interesting making the 3-d circle because I had to make it like a sun then cut out the lines and stick it to the other one like that.

I used leadership, working with others, communicating, practical skills, problem solving and creative thinking. I used the communication to let the smaller one to help and work which goes with working with others. I used the practical skills, shown by the Finnish project. It was a bit tricky to figure out what way to make it good but it worked out. I thing that was interesting was how useless PVA glue was, we glued the legs on and left it but the glue didn’t stick good and the legs started drifting up and out of place.
