P7 Fraction War

P7 were testing their knowledge of fractions by participating in fraction wars. Using a set of playing cards, children have to establish which partner has the largest fraction.  This allowed them to consolidate their knowledge of equivalent fractions, improper fractions and mixed number fractions.  Well done!

P7 Geography and History with U.G.S.

P7 were fortunate to have a visit from some of the fantastic social subjects teachers from Uddingston Grammar earlier today. They participated in a lesson based on the geography and history of Pompeii and Roman Life.  Pupils worked in small groups but were also  required to produce individual pieces. Children were asked to consider their opinion on the importance of Pompeii and the significance of historical information it provides.

P7 Visit the Council Chambers

P7 enjoyed a visit to the Council Chambers as part of their Scottish Parliament topic.  They were greeted by the Depute Provost Tom Castles and Councillor Bob Burrows. The children particularly enjoyed question time in the Chambers, where they were able to ask some interesting and challenging questions to the elected officials.  I think we definitely have a few budding politicians in the making.

P7 Hockey Festival

Children enjoyed a competitive morning at Uddingston Hockey club. They tested some of their latest hockey skills against schools from the local area and beyond. A great morning was had by all!

P7 Rock Buns 🍪

P7 have been baking up a storm in the kitchen.  After researching the impact of rationing on daily lives during WW2, children were keen to try some of the treats that was enjoyed during these times. Following the WW2 recipe, children weighed, measured and mixed the ingredients to bake some tasty rock buns. Yummy! 🤩

P6 Terrific Trouts Arrive!

We had a lovely time when Willie from The Clyde River Foundation came to deliver our trout eggs. The children were so excited to see the eggs up close. We are trying to keep the temperature cold enough. Soon we are getting a visit from Rhona from the Clyde River Foundation. Hopefully soon we can release our new trout.
