Congratulations to Holly Stevenson in Primary 3 for receiving a special commendation certificate. Holly was recognised for her wonderful entry in the North Lanarkshire road safety calendar competition. Holly was presented with her certificate and prize at our assembly today. Well done Holly!
What a great party!!! Primary 2 and Primary 3 had a wonderful Christmas party this afternoon. We sang and danced to The Grand Old Duke of York, playing musical arms, corners, pass the parcel and even had a dancing competition. I think there will be some tired boys and girls tonight! 4 more sleeps to go 🙂
P6 and P7 have been enjoying social dancing, games and free-style dancing at their Christmas party. The boys and girls had great fun choosing their dance partners for the Gay Gordans, Military Two-step and Canadian Barn Dance. Today primary three enjoyed learning more about the properties of 3D shapes. Children were learning to describe the faces, edges and vertices (corners) of a range of 3D shapes including: cube, cuboid, triangular prism, sphere, cylinder, cone, square based pyramid and triangular based pyramid. Groups 1 and 7 had great fun this afternoon at the final of the Uddingston Grammar Maths Challenge. Both groups were put through their paces with a variety of different activities, such as; model building, countdown, Christmas quiz, maths relay and Christmas decoder, plus many more! After a busy Christmas Lunch, Primary 5 were ready to have some fun. Inspired by the size of last nights moon, we worked in teams to paint our own moons glowing bright in the night sky. You can see that we have been painting in shades of blue. Our art work isn’t yet finished but I hope you agree that it looks beautiful. Great team work Primary Five and thanks for helping to tidy up.
Anderson shelters were a type of shelter people went into during an air raid to keep safe. The government gave people an Anderson Shelter kit to families who lived in areas that were expected to be bombed by German planes. Anderson shelters were built into people’s gardens. Well done to our Christmas card competition winners. Each winner was presented with 6 cards of their design to take home and give to family and friends.
