Moving on to secondary is an important milestone for children and families. Through strong partnerships, shared information and planned transition experiences, we help young people feel confident, prepared and ready for this next stage of their learning journey.

Transition work with Cumbernauld Academy begins in Primary 6 and continues through Primary 7. Children take part in a range of visits and activities to help them become familiar with the school, staff and subjects.
Staff from Abronhill Primary and Cumbernauld Academy work closely together to share information and ensure a smooth and positive transition.
There are also opportunities for parents and carers to attend information events and find out more about the move to secondary school.
If your child is moving on to a different secondary school, they will be supported to take part in transition activities provided by that school.
Enhanced Transition
Some children may benefit from additional support with their transition, including extra visits and personalised support to help them feel confident and ready for secondary school.
