What We Have Learned So Far !!

So far we have had a great start to our new term.

We have made a start on a new topic, The Caribbean.  We have made carnival coustumes and researched about the carnivals that happen in the Caribbean.

In Maths and Numercay we have been doing data handling with Mrs Ashgar, we have made a questionnaire about anything we wanted and we looked at what kind of questions we should put in our questionnaire.

We wrote a narrative story about a secret hatch and a magical forest. We did this with Mrs Ashgar and she gave us an idea of what we could put in our stories and she told us to describe the forest really well because she wanted to feel as if she was actually there.

All groups have all started a new book,we all are really enjoying looking at different books and we are looking forward to doing more tasks on them.

In P.E we have been doing sprinting and we have went over to the high school with the other Primary 7.  Over in the high school we have still been doing sprinting but also do exercise stations like squats, sit ups, luges , jumping jack and a few others.

We have enjoyed this term so far and hope to keep it going like this here are some photos of what we have learned –

Our First Week Back at School !!

Our new topic is the Caribbean.

On Tuesday most of the boys from primary 5 and up tried for the school football team, most of them got in but some didn’t. At the tournament on the 21st, they came second out of 16 other school teams.

Numeracy- Weight

In numeracy we have been learning about weight and have been converting grams to kilograms and kilograms to grams. We took out the scales and took stuff around the classroom and estimated the weight then weighed the item and wrote the difference between the estimate and the real weight.

Health- Foods from Around the World

In health we are learning about foods around the world and we were put in to groups of 3 or groups of 2. We chose a country to write facts about, draw their flag and name some of their traditional foods. When Miss O’Neill told us about this everyone started singing ‘Its raining tacos.’

Pizza

We made pizza today and we made it from scratch and most of us found it really good. We added tomatoes, parmesan cheese, mozzarella and basil and it got messy…        Then some people carried the pizza to Mrs Ross and she put them in the oven. Ten minutes later when they were cooked 4 people were sent to bring them over, 2 people brought the pizzas and the other 2 brought chopping boards.

PE- High School

This week in P.E we went to the high school and got split into 2 groups half of us went to badminton and the other half went to tennis.

Next week we are organising the pupil council. Miss O’Neill told us to plan our manifesto.  We will present the reasons to the class as to why we will make good class representatives.

1960s Talk With Mrs O’Neill

Before the holidays we had a visitor to our class. It was Miss O’Neill’s mum! She came in to talk to us about her childhood during the 1960s. We made a list of questions to ask her prior to her visit. She brought in some LP’s to show us including ‘Hello Dolly’ and ‘The Sound of Music’ (both musicals from the 60s). She also brought in an old fashioned doll house and some photographs.

I learned that people tended to sit together in their living rooms as that was the warmest room in the house. Most homes didn’t have heating in the early 1960s.    Cameron McAulay    P7

I learned that bedrooms had hot water pipes and that would be the only heat source in the room.  Lewis Potter   P6

Mrs O’Neill said that the Beetles spoke their mind and that’s why some parents didn’t like them.  Keavie P6

You would get the belt for talking whilst the teacher was talking to another adult and if you pulled your hand away, you’d get an extra whip. Jake and Kali P6
