Burns Supper 2024

Burns Supper 2024

Letter Issued to R7 & R9

Dear Parent/Carer
On Thursday 25th January 2024 your child’s class will be taking part in a Burn’s Supper. The primary 7 children in rooms 7 and 9 will be involved in planning and running the event by learning poetry, making speeches and decorating the hall.

We would like to invite you to join the children at their Burn’s Supper. The event will start at 1.45pm and will finish by 3pm. During the afternoon everyone will have the opportunity to taste ‘haggis, neeps and tatties’, drink some Irn Bru and the children will perform some Scottish poems and songs and make the traditional speeches.

The cost of this event will be £4 for adults. There will be no charge for the children as the school will cover the cost of the children’s meal.

If you would like to attend the Burn’s Supper please complete the form below and return it to the school, along with £4 per adult, by Friday 19th January 2024.

We really hope that you will be able to join the children at, what is probably their first ever Burn’s Supper.

Feel free to wear something tartan!

If you have any questions regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Playtime Snack

Please send your child to school with a small snack for morning interval.  We have an increasing number of pupils looking for snack to be provided by us. Unfortunatley we do not always have  a huge supply of this.

Should you be finding it difficult to provide snack due to increased financial pressure please let us know by contacting the school office. This will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Water

Reminder that only water should be provided for drinking in class. Pupils shouldn’t be drinking fizzy drinks, energy drinks or drinks high in sugar in school.

Parents should also ensure pupils are making a sensible choice when pupils are eating out for lunch. These drinks can often have a negative effect on learning especially in the afternoons.

Learning in Room 6!

This week we have had so much fun learning our spelling and phonics words. We used paint to practice fine motor skills and spell at the same time.

In Maths we have been learning number bonds and counting within 100. We used lots of active games and hands on practice to improve our skills.

In IDL we were researching the people who live in the Rainforest and found out that they often paint their faces or bodies during celebrations. This inspired us to make our own masks in Art.
