Transition Letter from Bellshill Academy
Transition Information for New P1s
New Primary one children are invited into the Infant playground on either the 17th or 18th of June between 10am-11am.
Here you will be able to meet your teacher and get your pack for starting school. There may also be a special guest and gift for you too!
Bellshill Academy Transition
This month P7 have really enjoyed working with staff at Bellshill Academy Art & Home Economics departments on weekly sessions.

Room 5 have been enjoying visiting Bellshill Academy as part of out transition programme. They have been carrying out a range of experiments and really enjoying the sessions.
Our First Week in Room 13
We have certainly had a busy first week in Room 13 with P3/4. We have been working hard to learn new routines and all about our new classmates and teacher. We have also been revising our phonemes from last year as well as practising our addition and subtraction skills!
Our PE days are Monday (outdoor) and Friday (indoor). Kit can be brought in on a Monday and taken home on a Friday afternoon.

Miss Turton thinks we have got off to a fantastic start in Room 13 and is very much looking forward to working with all the children this year.
Primary 7 Road Safety Performance
Primary 7 thoroughly enjoyed their Road Safety performance yesterday afternoon.
The performance emphasised the importance of staying safe when walking to school. The characters in the play showed how easy it was to give in to peer pressure and act silly near traffic. The children soon realised how silly behaviour can have a huge impact on their lives – for all the wrong reasons.

Transition Dates for New Primary 1 Pupils
We are looking forward to welcoming all our new Primary 1 pupils this week for the last of our planned transition events. These events are for all pupils beginning in Primary 1.
Induction Afternoon
Our Primary 1 Induction Afternoon will take place on Wednesday 10th June at 1.45pm – 2.45pm. Please bring your child to the infant entrance of the school. On arrival children will be met by a member of school staff and directed to the correct classroom for the afternoon.
During the visit the children will have the opportunity to meet their class teacher and experience some of the activities, which will take place in Primary 1.
Parents/carers will have the opportunity to learn more about the school, which will provide information about your child’s first year.
School Lunch Visit
Pupils are invited to come along for a school lunch on Thursday 11th June at 11am. Due to capacity in the dinner hall we can only accommodate one adult to accompany each child. Pupils and adults will be able to sample our school lunch menu free of charge and see the variety of foods on offer.
Please telephone the school on the above number to confirm you attendance at both induction events no later than Tuesday 9th June.

Transition Visits from Nursery
Today we had all the boys and girls who will be starting Lawmuir in August come and visit us. They had lots of fun in class, meeting some friends and even took part in a ‘Shape Treasure Hunt’. Parents enjoyed a cup of tea and a biscuit with Lucy Roy our Parent Support Worker.
Parents were also issued with an Early Numeracy Guide to help prepare for school in August.
