David Hockney inspired self portraits
The children took photographs of each other and used these to create contemporary photo collages inspired by the work of artist, David Hockney.
P3/4 Clay Faces
Picasso Portraits
Inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso, 3/4 created their own abstract portraits using oil pastels in hot and cold colours.

North Lanarkshire Calendar Competition
NLC Calendar Competition
Two of our pupils and a former pupil of Calderbank primary have something to celebrate! Their artwork has been selected to be included in the North Lanarkshire Calendar 2014. They travelled to Kildonan Street in Coatbridge to get their photograph taken and will return in December for the formal awards ceremony.
P1/2 Marbling
P1/2 have been exploring colour and different printing techniques this term. They had great fun creating colourful prints using marbling inks.
I have the opportunity to choose and explore a range of media and technologies to create images and objects, discovering their effects and suitability for specific tasks. EXA 1-02a

We enjoyed using  primary and secondary colours to create prints using polystyrene printing blocks.

The children got messy, mixing primary colours to create new secondary colours. They used their hands to mix the paint and print the new colours they created.

Playground Improvers!
Our mural is taking shape despite the rain ! We are hoping to complete our mural and the repainting of  all of our playground markings soon.
We are keen that everyone gets the opportunity to get involved in the painting and hope that all children bring in old clothes and shoes, if they haven’t already done so, to enable them to take part.
