We provide a free school clothing bank for our families and school community. Pupils and families are invited to help themselves to free school uniform and shoes. These are available at the front door and in the gym hall.

Allotment

At St. Bridget’s we are lucky to have our very own allotment where we plant and grow various produce. We are supported by people in our community who help us look after and distribute the food when it is ready.

Zero Waste at home and school!

We aim to have empty plates as we know this keeps us healthy and also is good for the environment. Our Zero Waste monitors help us in the dinner hall and our families tweet us with picture from home of us clearing our plates.

The Scottish schools tackling waste and poverty

Recently, we have started collecting all the bread waste and use it to feed the local wildlife around the school.

School Water bottles

Keeping healthy and looking after our planet is very important to us at St. Bridget’s. In an attempt to cut down on single use plastics and also keeping us hydrated while we are learning we have all been given our very own school water bottle.  Thanks to our Parent Council who help fund and support this project.

Rag Bag Appeal

We support the Rag Bag appeal at multiple times throughout the school year. The scheme increases awareness about textile recycling and by increasing recycling rates we can help the environment by ensuring less material goes to landfill.

Biomass and Solar Panels

At St.Bridget’s we are very aware of our impact on the environment. We are proud that our school has its own Biomass boiler which keeps us warm in the winter months whilst being more Eco friendly. On our roof we have solar panels which keep us in the light during the dark months and nights. To find out more about school’s energy use please click on the image below.
