Work at Home (wk beg. 15.06.2020)

Hi everyone! As it is nearly the end of term, we thought we would try something a bit different this week. We are going to be doing some revision and then have a bit of fun! Team chats will take place as usual on Wednesday at 1.30pm and Friday at 11am. Missing you all!

Spelling – This week we would like you to revise the words you have been learning during lock-down. Pick out any tricky words you think it might be a good idea to have another look at and complete some of the tasks.   Second Level Spelling Bingo   Spelling Activities

Virtual School Trip

At this time of year, we usually have a whole school trip but unfortunately we are unable to do that at the moment. We thought it might be nice to have a ‘virtual trip’ to Edinburgh Zoo and have set different tasks for each day. Please comment on Teams with what you have been doing so that it really feels like we are doing it together! Have fun!

Why not start your trip by having a look around! (You may need permission from your parents to view youtube)

Monday

Task 1: In order to get in to the zoo, we will need tickets.

Design your own ticket for the zoo. Include date, time, a picture and of course the zoo name.

I’ve included some examples…

It costs money to enter the zoo.

There are 76 children, Miss Dobson, Mrs Munro, Mrs Sheikh, Mrs Gaw and Mrs McDougall going on the trip.

How much will it cost in total for us all?

Task 2: Each day we will be researching an animal to find out facts.

Today’s animal is a **Panda**

Watch the live webcam of the pandas at Edinburgh Zoo by following the link.

https://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/webcams/panda-cam/

Now, it is live so they might not be very active when we need them to be. I have attached another video of a live cam so you can definitely see some action if the Edinburgh ones are sleeping.

Research pandas and find out 3 interesting facts then post them to Teams for everyone to see 🙂

Complete the Panda Passport! Pandas come from China so these pandas have travelled very far and of course how can they travel without a passport!?

Either print the document or draw your own on paper

Tuesday

Task 1: We need a clear plan of action for our day!

Use the map to figure out what the best route is to see the following animals:

Pandas, Meerkat, Rhinos, Wildcat, Monkeys, Hippos, Vultures, Otters, Zebras

We will enter the zoo where it says ‘Zoo Entrance’. Where should we go first? What is the best and quickest way to see all of these animals?  Use this map:

Either draw a plan on the map, or upload the animals in a list of first visited to last 🙂

Task 2:

Today’s animal is a **Penguin**

Thursday

Task 1: Do Edinburgh Zoo have your favourite animal? Why not?

Today we are going to be designing a poster to persuade Edinburgh Zoo to get in a new animal of your choice. Make sure you check they don’t already have this animal.

Posters should include:

  • Name of animal
  • Description of animal
  • Why should the zoo get it?
  • Pros of having the animal
  • Picture

 Task 2:

Today’s animal is a **Koala**

Watch the live webcam of the Koalas at Edinburgh Zoo by following the link.
