Term 3

This term we will be learning all about money!! We will be looking at the different coins and notes we may use or see on a daily basis as well as how we can use this money to buy items and work out much change we should receive.

We will also be learning about different angles, symmetry and transformations. Looking at different angles, working them out and using maps to locate and traverse our way to different objects.

Number bonds are also a big focus this term as we test ourself weekly on hit the button trying to improve our own scores wether it be to 10 or 20. This is something you can continue at home on an iPad or Laptop! Just google ‘hit the button’ and you will be able to show off your new and improved skills in class!

Term 2

Our numeracy topics this term include estimating and rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, 3D shape, symmetry, odd and even numbers as well as mental maths strategies to make out sums even easier to do.

We all did fantastically well with our rounding work and all now understanding the meaning of estimation. To help us we looked at a rhyme: Five to nine climb the vine! Zero to four slide to the floor!

We are now focussing on 2D and 3D shapes, looking at the different vocabulary we can use. We love working out the vertices and surfaces of different shapes and using our knowledge to compete against each other in SPLAT!!
