The final options process is now underway with our current S2 to S5 pupils selecting their course choices for session 2019-20. Here at Largs Academy we are continually striving to improve our curriculum offer as we endeavour to meet the needs of each and every one of our pupils. As we continue to review our curriculum structure, we have been able to broaden the variety of courses that we offer from S3 through to S6 and our partnership with Ayrshire College continues to grow from strength to strength. From the documentation attached below, our pupils will be able to see the increasing number of vocational subjects and pathways we are offering.
In session 2019-2020 the following year groups are expected to study the following number of subject:
S3 – 9 Subjects (English, Maths plus seven others)
S4 – 7 Subjects (English, Maths plus five others)
S5 – 5 Subjects
S6 – 4 Subjects plus added value (inc leadership and volunteering)
The option forms that young people have been presented with were designed by closely analysing the ‘mock option’ data which was gathered in November 2018 and these should allow the vast majority of pupils to select the subjects that they most desire.
Please browse through the appropriate documentation below and please do not hesitate to contact Mr B Wilson should you have any queries regarding the options process.

S4 to S5 Option Form Feb 2019
During the week beginning Monday 26th Novemeber 2018, pupils in S3, S4 and S5 will be given a mock option form to complete at home in consultation with parents/carers. The purpose of this is to gather relevant data to gauge the level of interest in particular subjects and courses. This data will be used to design the final option process which will begin in February 2019, with a view to allowing as many students as possible to select their desired courses at the appropriate level.
Please note that pupils are asked to highlight reserve options as not all pupils will be able to select each of their desired subjects. This process however, is aimed at minimising the number of pupils who have to access their reserve choices.
The mock option forms have been discussed during assemblies and will be distributed during PSE time. A copy of the mock option forms can be found below, along with descriptors for the courses that we offer in partnership with Ayrshire College. Please note that college courses will be timetabled to minimise disruption to other school courses.
The completed forms must be signed by the pupil, parents/carers and the pupil’s Pastoral Support teacher before being returned during the week beginning Monday 3rd Dec 2018 to their Pastoral Support Teacher.
