Pilot Project started Nov 2020 – Barnardo’s Wellbeing Project
Supported by CashBack for Communities, Barnardo’s are facilitating group work with S3 pupils through a weekly mental health and wellbeing group for 18 weeks.
The criteria for referral is young people that would benefit from a peer support group for their mental health and wellbeing.
The group will discuss what is mental health and wellbeing, how can we keep ourselves healthy, how can we spot signs of other people needing support, where to go for support. Young people are involved in the planning of topics such as anger, anxiety, bullying, eating disorders and suicide.
The service also amplify the voices of young people to influence Government on the issues that affect their lives, fighting their corner and making sure their voices are heard. The will be involved in discussing children’s rights and the current consultation on the UNCRC bill.
The aim of group is develop the young peoples’ confidence and self-esteem providing them with knowledge and skills to support their resilience and access supports.
