Estimate in contexts of number and measurement using the appropriate language
Work out missing numerals in a number line.
Use comparative language to describe several items in terms of length, weight, height and capacity, explaining my findings to others (e.g. tall, taller, tallest – heavy, heavier, heaviest)
In Literacy & English this term we have been learning to …
1. Talk about a story and share my likes and dislikes.
2. Talk about the sequence of events in a story.
3. Listen and respond within groups by taking turns.
4. Share our thoughts and ideas when making marks/writing.
In Numeracy & Maths this term we have been learning to …
1. Recognise numbers.
2. Count forwards and backwards, even when stopping at starting at given points.
3. About money, how it is used and to recognise some coins.
4. Compare, sort, match, measure, describe and problem solve.
In the first few weeks of term we have been becoming familiar with the rules and routines of our Early Years Class. Our returning children have been very helpful and responsible when showing our new children how things work in Fairlie.
We spent time getting to know each other and learning how to play co-operatively with others.
We can listen and respond to information. We are developing our balance, control and co-ordination. We are able to persevere and keep on trying even if it’s “tricky”.
We have been learning to measure, compare and reason. We can describe and predict using measurement language; taller/smaller, longer/shorter, heavy/light, full/empty.
We have been learning about what we need to do to get ready to share a story (read).
We can hold a book the correct way and turn the pages 1 at a time. We know that story time is a quiet time. We listen carefully and can take turns in conversations about the story.
