KGS Inspection Follow Up Visit
Following our initial Inspection in September 2015 and follow up visit in November 2016 a joint inspection team from Moray Council and Education Scotland returned to the school in September 2017.
The purpose of this visit was to ensure that the good progress that had been identified in 2016 was being sustained and built upon to the benefit of the young people in our care.
The team recognised the hard work of all in our school community passing comment on how well the large number of new staff had fitted in to the school and that they had a clear understanding of the school’s vision and ethos as well as our priorities for improvement. They found many positives about our school mentioning improvements in attainment with real gains in numeracy and ongoing progress in literacy. The wide and increasing range of experiences and qualifications open to our students was commended along with the quality of relationships and support for young people.
As pleasing as this positive report is we are clear that school improvement is never finished. Along with all schools we will continue to review courses, learning experiences and approaches, and monitor the impact we are having on our students. Together with our parents and our many partners in our community we will always strive to provide the best possible experience for our young people to allow them the best start in life that we can.
You can find the full report as well as links to the initial Inspection and revisit on the KGS page on the Moray Council website: –

Communication
Whilst we aim to make sure all our young people feel safe and supported in school we are aware that sometimes things can go wrong. We encourage students and parents to raise concerns as quickly as possible so that we can try to resolve any issues before they have the chance to impact on a young person’s progress.
Within school there is a KAB (Keith Against Bullying) postbox that bullying concerns can be posted in. Alternatively, these concerns can be texted to the KAB line, number available on posters throughout the school. If you or a friend are experiencing bullying or intimidation let us know as soon as possible. During our recent Inspection Visit students told the Inspectors that our anti-bullying programme was working in reducing bullying and that they were confident that any concerns were being dealt with appropriately.
For any other concerns we would hope that students feel able to approach their Teacher, Guidance Teacher, Year Head or any member of the Senior Leadership Team. If this is not possible then we would ask that parents contact the school to highlight the concern either by phone or email.
It is much better to speak to us than to vent on Social Media. If we are not aware of an issue we will not be able to help your child.
As a school we aim to Get it Right for Every Child and I would hope that those parents who have contacted the school would agree with that. We realise we are not always correct, teachers are human too remember, but as parents ourselves we also realise that you don’t always get the full story from your child. It is therefore preferable to get in touch early and establish a full picture.
