D&T – Learning for Sustainability

What is learning for sustainability?

What we say

Throughout the BGE we encourage pupils to think critically about the 17 Global Goals which were agreed in 2015. Although we discuss and design with these in mind, this section of our website shows the discreet learning  and teaching which we will overtake.

Although all of the Global Goals identify strategies and ideas to help educate our pupils. We feel that the following global goals link extremely well into the Design & Technology curriculum.

Global Goal No. 13 Climate Action

Global Goal No. 12 Responsible Consumption & Production

Global Goal No. 9 Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure

What they say

“Learning for sustainability (LfS) is an approach to life and learning which enables learners, educators, schools and their wider communities to build a socially-just, sustainable and equitable society. An effective whole school and community approach to LfS weaves together global citizenship, sustainable development education and outdoor learning to create coherent, rewarding and transformative learning experiences. ” Education Scotland
